1. Snake & Jake Xmas Club (7601 Oak St., 861-8202)
It’s hard to believe that some bars in New Orleans actually close at some point, but the bartenders at Snake and Jake are always happy to serve those who are still ready to keep going after they’ve been kicked out of other bars. The small bar looks like a tool shed, blending into the small Uptown neighborhood, but those who are familiar with it can find it by looking for the Christmas lights that adorn it. You can always find a variety of college students and locals enjoying late night (or early morning) drinks with their friends. Warning: only for the serious night crawlers who are prepared to stay out until the sun comes out.

1. Lucy’s (701 Tchoupitoulas, 523-8995)
I really don’t think it’s possible to go to Lucy’s without running into at least two people you know that you didn’t originally arrive with. Everyone’s showing up for drinks at the bar after work or a really good burger for dinner; they have whatever you need to celebrate (or lament) your day.

1. Winston’s (531 Metairie Road, 831-8705)
Right by the tracks on Metairie Road is the closest thing to England you’ll find on this side of the bloody Channel. There are 11 taps, rather exquisite fish & chips with malt vinegar, a plethora of imported bottles, and “dead sexy” bartenders I might add. Need a free Keg Party? If so, than bloody hell get your arses to the Pub, have a pint on the outdoor patio, or kick back on the leather sofas and say “bullocks” to tomorrow!

2. Astral Project
3. Rebirth Bass Band
Favorite Traditional Jazz Band
1. Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers

2. Preservation Hall Band
3. Jazz Vipers
Favorite Rock ‘n’ Roll Band
1. Dr. a Go-Go
Hard crunching surf vibe garage rock music is the name of the game with Dr. A Go-Go. The band ignites a party in its own right; when the music is combined with their pretty, sneering dancers, you’re observing a gasoline drenched Molotov cocktail. Such a reaction is due in part to the presence of a Farfisa organ.
2. Supagroup
3. World Leader Pretend
Favorite Cover Band

Favorite R&B Band
1. G. LaBeaud
Why waste your talents making someone else rich? That is the same thing New Orleans artist G. LaBeaud asked himself while producing, writing and volcalizing on other artist’s albums in L.A. for the past decade. Last year, he rounded up his brothers, ‘dem LaBeaud boys, and returned home to his 7th Ward roots to cut his first album, On The G, with local record label Louisiana Red Hot. His soulful sounds have been described as “baby-makin’ music” and could pick the lock off any chastity belt. His biggest venue yet was on the Congo Stage at this year’s Jazz Fest but he can be heard in various clubs around town. Keep an eye out for the LaBeaud brothers as they have been known to “buy the bar.”
2. Walter Wolfman Washington

Nathan Williams’ website proclaims, “Ain’t nothin’ but a party, y’all,” and damn if it ain’t right.
