Sharpest Shooters in the west

PEJA STOJAKOVIC

By Fletcher Mackel

WYAT: The fact that you remained healthy was singled out as a key to the Hornets success last year. How does your surgically repaired back feel today? Is it even stronger than one year ago?
PS: It is. I feel good. Last year, I think at a time I was nervous, wondering how it would hold up. Now I know how it’ll hold up, so I am even more confident.

WYAT: What does the addition of James Posey mean to your lineup?
PS: James is a great player. He’s got two rings. He’ll provide offense off the bench and strong defense. You can never have too many weapons and James is another weapon that we are all happy to have on our team. He knows how to win.

WYAT: Does this team have enough depth to beat the Rockets, Lakers, and Spurs in a seven-game series and reach the NBA Finals?
PS: Yes. If we stay healthy, we can compete with any team.

WYAT: You’re the only European player to ever play significant minutes on a Byron Scott coached team. Why? Why does Coach Scott trust you and value you as a player?
PS: I played against Byron in the league and then he was an assistant coach in Sacramento when I came into the NBA. Coach just wants guys who can play and who play hard. It doe not matter what color you are or where you came from, if you’re a good player who plays the game the right way, you can play for Coach Scott.

WYAT: You play in the NBA, you’re married to a supermodel, and in the off-season you live on a beautiful Greek island…are you the luckiest guy in the world?
PS: I’m happy.
